Boarding House Mentors is a non-profit organization that transforms the lives of under-served youth by introducing them to the exhilaration of board sports. We provide a safe and supportive community environment which promotes positive self-image, inspires self-confidence, fosters healthy lifestyles, and encourages respect and awareness for the environment. BHM is an all-volunteer organization.
How Surfing Can Transform Lives:
Surfing is a challenging sport that requires persistence and adaptability to ever-changing elements of the ocean and weather. By meeting and overcoming these challenges and learning to master the skills of surfing, youth develop confidence to explore other new experiences and the rewards of perseverance.
We hope to foster a love of surfing that youth will adopt and pursue on their own. Through surfing we hope that they will also discover their potential for living healthy, productive lives and learn to respect and protect the environment.
